Among Acer update a few weeks’ across its range of consumer Aspire notebooks with the new Intel processors Penryn, from 12 to 20 inches. Among the notebooks affected by the refresh are Acer Aspire 2920, Acer Aspire 4920 and popular Aspire 5920, 7720 and 9920.
Among the major PC vendor worldwide, Acer is probably what has kept the lowest level of confidence about its new notebook platform based on Intel Santa Rosa Refresh: on the lists of many European online store include, in fact, several models of the multinational Taiwanese, updated with the new Intel Core 2 Duo Penryn to 45nm.

While the corporate IT world has long had access to remotely-controlled power for servers and data centers, it’s pretty cutting-edge stuff for home theater, with PS Audio releasing the first line of Internet-connected power management devices. Ranging in price from $600 to $1,995 and scheduled to release in Spring 2008, the four products in the PowerPlay line differ in number of switchable and isolated plugs, but all offer a web interface to toggle power, schedule reboots, and monitor power quality. There is an RS-232 port for hardwired power control as well as IR blasters for turning devices back on after a reboot. Now you can reboot your TiVo without ever stepping foot in the house.

This one’s been around the block for a bit, but it’s just now managed to sneak up on us. The VidaBox vPad comes from the same firm offering up those swank CableCARD-equipped HTPCs, and this home controller shares that very same pizazz. The 10.4-inch tablet rocks an SVGA (1,024 x 768) panel, integrated 802.11b WiFi, a built-in speaker and a rechargeable Li-ion good for around 2.5 hours. As expected, this unit enables owners to control multi-room audio, climate zones, security cameras, garage doors and WiFi-enabled toasters, we presume. ‘Course, you’ll need Mirage software for VidaBox control or your own home automation hardware to really take advantage of the vPad, and unfortunately, we’ve no pricing / release details to share just yet.

This one looks to still be a good deal away from showing up at a store near you, but if a group of designers have their way, their so-called MPillow could one day be working its magic to lull you to sleep (although it will have quite a bit of competition on the high-tech pillow front). Helping it stand out are some built-in wireless capabilities that’ll let you stream MP3s from your PC or pull some presumably relaxing sounds off the MPillow servers, as well as some soothing lighting that changes color and intensity along with the music. As you can no doubt guess, however, there’s no indication that the pillow is actually headed for commercialization, so you’ll just have to make do with some of the current music-playing pillows for the time being, or not.

The LG M228WD is the company’s latest monitor that promises a perfect picture for your desktop and in this case a built-in digital tuner so you can watch TV when you’re not working. But does it work and do you really need it? We take a closer look.
Geared towards the entertainment enthusiast rather than the work horse in the office the LG M228WD sports a 22-inch screen, a glossy black frame, a design conscious feel and plenty of buttons and ports around the back out of view.
As a device it measurements are 525.4mm(W)*230mm(D)*439mm(H) with the stand offering basic functionality rather than anything cutting edge. Tilting is find, but don’t expect much more and certainly don’t expect to adjust the height, the orientation or the swivel pivot angle, it’s just not going to happen.
