EA Announces Ship Date for Mercenaries 2: World in Flames

imageEA and Pandemic Studios has announced that Mercenaries 2: World in Flames has now shipped to retail outlets and will hit store shelves on September 5th. The game is set in an open world environment that is fully destructible.

EA says the game showcases the most recent military hardware and if you see it in the game you can buy it, steal it, or blow it up. EA says the game sets a new standard for destructible environments and the game can be played online against other players. The game will be available on PS2, PS3, Xbox, and PC.

“Can I? Yes I can! That is what we set out to achieve in Mercenaries 2 and I am proud to say that is what we are delivering,” said Josh Resnick, President of Pandemic Studios. “With Mercenaries 2, we are bringing our signature style to a truly epic, fun experience with tons of weapons, airstrikes, and vehicles, wrapping it all up in a virtual Venezuela that should provide endless larger-than-life moments.”

3rd Space Vest Gets New Drivers

imageTN Games, the gang behind the interesting 3rd Space gaming vest have announced new drivers for the vest that add compatibility for a slew of the coolest PC games on the planet. The new driver update is free to owners of the vest.

Games now supported on the 3rd space vest include Bioshock, Mass Effect, Call of Duty 4, and more. The total amount of games now supported by the 3rd Space vest is 20. I used the 3rd Space vest at CES 2008 and it was cool.

“We want gamers to have fun taking hits from their games, not their wallets,” said Dr. Mark Ombrellaro, CEO, TN Games. “As gamers, we designed the vest to make games more realistic, give you a better handle on the game-space as a real 3-D environment, intensify your awareness and competitive edge during play, and take great games and supercharge their performance into an even more exciting unique experience. Our goal has been to expand the vest’s usable title base to include as many of the top shooter games as possible so long as we preserve its full functionality and 3-D impact experience.”
