Okay, so we won’t totally judge Chinavasion’s “High Definition Great Value” camcorder before we get to know it, but we’ll be frank, we ain’t gettin’ to know it. Those willing to give this heap a fighting chance can look forward to hope for 720p capturing at 30fps, 8-megapixel still shots, a 2.5-inch LCD monitor, 19MB (and not a byte more) of internal memory, an SD / SDHC expansion slot and an HDMI output for showing off your adventures to friends and family (who will inevitably whisper behind your back about what camcorder you chose). Nah, we’re not seriously riding this thing that hard, but do tell if you’re the first soul to lay down $157.50 for one.

We introduced them at the beginning of 2008, the HDC-SD9 and the HDC-HD9, and now, Panasonic added new Champagne Gold color to its lineup of Digital camera.
Nothing new concerning the specifications, but, as a reminder, our two camera support the AVCHD codec, Full HD Video at 17Mbps. They also features face recognition system for video, an improved LSI for Crystal clear video/pictures and the support of the 24p for cinema like video.
The difference between our two models concerns the storage capacity: the HDC-HS9 offers 60GB of HDD, while the HDC-SD9 use SD Card.
The HS9 will be available on July 26th, and the SD9 should be available on August 23th.

Uh oh, DXG’s creeping its way up into luxury territory. Earlier this year, we saw the outfit dish out a craptacular $149 HD camcorder, and just a few months back we were introduced to the $169 DXG-569V. Now, it’ll take another Hamilton in order to rightfully claim its newest unit, the DXG-567V. The pocket-friendly cam is available in four different hues, ships with rechargeable AA batteries and uploads directly to YouTube and other video sharing sites without much hassle at all. DXG claims that this bugger captures video at 1,280 x 720 (30fps), but even at $179, we have our doubts about the overall quality. Better watch out though, by this time next year you’ll see DXG perched up beside Sony, Panasonic and the rest of the respected gang.

Camcorder pens often sacrifice the whole “writing” thing in the name of capturing video, but this one from BrickHouse Security does write, and has considerably bigger storage capacity than previous video pens, too. It’s a big pricey, but if you’re into the whole Maxwell Smart lifestyle it could make a nice, voyeuristic addition to your repertoire. Two hours of battery time per charge, 30 hours of audio and/or video (4GB), and a potential restraining order are available to you for $250.

According to Sony, the CX11E is the world’s first ever camcorder to feature Smile Shutter using Face Detection technology. Specs include 1920×1080 Full HD recording on removable ‘Memory Stick’, ClearVid CMOS sensor with Exmor derived technology and BIONZ processor, 10.2 megapixel still image recording and Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T lens with 12x optical zoom. The exciting thing about the Smile Shutter is that its sensitivity can be set from recognizing anything from a gentle smile to a beaming grin. Priority can also be set to recognize children or adult’s faces. This unique Sony technology automatically captures crisp 7.6 megapixel photos when someone smiles. In ‘Dual Capture’ mode (default), stills are captured whenever someone smiles during movie recording. Image quality like no other is matched by superb 5.1 channel surround sound, with a zoom microphone function to minimize distracting background noises when images are zoomed in. It sports a 2.7-inch Clear Photo LCD Plus widescreen touch-panel that displays video and photos with superb contrast.
