Six way charger - perfect for those who own six very specific gadgets

image

Packing for holidays now involves allocating an entire suitcase compartment to all the various chargers required by your cameras, phone, MP3 player and the rest. That’s valuable space that could be better served with extra shoes and that dress you’ve never actually worn, but take on every holiday you ever go on, just in case (we’ve all got one).

This six-way charger looks like it might be a mighty fine idea, allowing you to dump the chargers and charge them all from that hub. You’ll be very lucky indeed if it fits the bill though, since the adaptors include iPod, Nokia, Motorola, Palm and Samsung phones and the Sony PSP. Weirdly, there doesn’t seem to be a mini USB charging adaptor. Still, if you coincidentally happen to the be the owner of the previous models mentioned, you can pick one up for $99 here.

New Energizer battery promises to last even longer

image

Energizer has launched a new battery that promises to fuel gamers and gadget fans for longer.
The new Energizer Advanced Lithium battery promises to use the latest battery tech (yawn) to increase your gadgets lifespan by up to 20 hours longer (yay).
According to the battery maker, the new batteries, which also happen to be 33% lighter than their alkaline brethren are ideal for photographers and gamers.
In fact so sure is the company that they are doing a massive promotion around Rock Band 2 for roadies looking to get the most out of the music game between charges.
And if your planning on playing in Siberia or the north pole they might be doubly helpful as according to Energizer they new batteries “performs well in extreme temperatures from -40 degrees to 60 degrees C”.
Energizer Advanced Lithium joins the company’s existing Energizer Ultimate Lithium and Energizer Rechargeable in the performance battery segment.
No word on a UK launch for those looking to last a little longer, the Energizer Advanced Lithium batteries will be available in stores in mid-August with a suggested retail price of $7.99 for a four-pack.

P.U. Smelly Board Game Begs for an Adult Version

image

Sure, the kids will have a blast filling their nostrils with various scents while playing PU: The Guessing Game Of Smells, but what about the grown ups? Where is our late-night olfactory adventure, made physical by a $28 game board? While the kids search for the mischievous skunk in P.U., using their noses to hunt for clues, what are we adults going to do to pass the time? These are the things I need to know. Meanwhile, I’ll be playing P.U., by myself, trying to guess which cards are peppermint, burnt rubber, cut grass, or “the dreaded doggie doo doo.”

rsd2-remote.jpg

Tomy the leading Japanese toy manufacturer has released a transparent version of the ever-popular radio-controlled R2-D2 mini action figure. The mini light saber which is also transparent doubles as a remote control using which you can move the R2D2 forward or turn on command, rotate his dome as he rolls, beep and whistle, and illuminate his photoreceptor “eye”. The transparent plastic lets you see the inner working of the R2D2. (Check out the video demonstration of the previous model after the jump)

The new Transparent R/C R2-D2 Action Figure by Tomy is available for $24.99 from the official Start Wars Shop.

Rest in Gizmos

imageimage

Coffins have managed to creep out even the bravest in the business. But they somehow no longer seem to have that charm in them. These cool new designs of coffins have them themed based on some gadget or technological advance. There are coffins that look like iPhones and others that are themed based on operating systems like Microsoft Vista and games like Halo 3 and Grand Theft Auto 4. Well, this can be used for those gamers who end up spending hours before their gaming consoles and succumbing to death due to hunger, strain or whatever gamers use as suicide methods. As for tech buffs who leave this world without getting the gizmo they craved for the most, these will serve as practical last wishes. Death is mocked as well by the world of technology. What’s next? With things going this way we will have hearses with messages that read “Rest in iPhone”.

Juice up with Portable Power Packs from Philips

image As someone whose laptop constantly runs out of battery, the new Power4Life packs from Philips seems ideal. The first is the SCM7880 USB adapter, which lets you charge devices without needing to bring along your wires, and even has adapters for different countries. It provides you with around 15 hours of juice, and would be great for topping up that iPod.

My favourite would have to be the SCE7640 though, as this is a compact power pack for your laptop.

Flying Remote Controlled UFO Lamp feels like its Armageddon

image Lamps have always been perched in one dingy corner of the room and are subjected to providing light to the rest of the house. Moving a lamp around the house is normally thought to be a stupid thing to do but when the need arises it causes a lot of inconvenience with wires all over the place. The Flying UFO lamp we have here has something that most other lamps don’t – a remote controlled facility that can light up places that you cannot take the lamp to. There are a couple of rotary blades placed on the top of the lamp that allows it to take flight. The UFO Lamp has to be preordered from NCSX shop and will ship in November 2008. It will cost $23.

Wii gets rechargeable battery packs with Sanyo’s Eneloop

image If all the extra accessories aren’t making your Wii collection a mess, all the AA batteries you’ve thrown out have at least caused a lump in a landfill. To help out in the battery department, Sanyo has come up with the Eneloop charging station complete with a battery pack replacement pack for your Wii remote and a charging base that can support as many as four controllers at once. Remotes charge in a respectable 220 minutes and Eneloop will even charge sequentially so you don’t have to wait an extra couple hours for your next Smash Bros fix. Available for $73 as an import item, but we wouldn’t be surprised if this showed up on our shores for powerless gamers this fall.
