image

Pine Digital a Korea based company has unveiled the Pine Drive GT a combination of GPS and PMP. You can load a whole lot of videos and songs on the onboard 30GB hard-drive and still have room left for some maps. The device gives you audible instructions along with live traffic information which is again a Korea only service. A Da-Vinci chipset (DM6446) loads up the videos in 1280 pixels and makes them worthwile watching on the high-res 800 x 480 screen. In addition to the media files it can also view Excel, Powerpoint and Word documents. The Pine Drive GT is available in Korea only for 499000.KRW ($ 450).

Blaupunkt TravelPilot 700 and 500 overlay nav info on realtime video

image

Blaupunkt’s TravelPilot nav units have never really stood out from the pack, but it looks like that’s about to change — the new TravelPilot 700 and 500 feature an integrated camera that displays realtime video with nav overlays on their 16:9 screens. That’s definitely a novel and intriguing feature, but there’s not a lot of information on how it works or what kind of hardware is under the hood to keep it running smoothly — with the 700’s estimated list price of $740, we’re guessing it’s pretty beefy. Both units also feature voice control, DVB-T traffic, live traffic, Bluetooth, and the usual PMP features, and the 700 also has a browser, email app, and VoIP client that work over Bluetooth tethering with your phone. Yeah, definitely intriguing — hopefully we’ll see this thing make it Stateside soon.

Rusen 3D software lets you navigate in Simcity style

image image Smcity 3000 was my favorite game after Command and Conquer Generals that is, bringing back nostalgia is Korea based Citus with Rusen a 3D navigation software. As seen in the screenshot the driver’s position is shown in real time along with the surrounding buildings. Using the onboard controls the view can be rotated from top to bottom or left and right just as in any 3D game. Companies are working to add traffic data based on traffic statistics collected over the time, however it is still under development and a long time away from turning into reality.
