The SR6003 takes its styling cues from the new Marantz AV8003 processor, in that it is crazy, sexy, cool and built like a brick well-you-get-the-idea. The SR6003 is stunning, with its black on black textured façade accented by its symmetrical tuning and volume knobs and clear-as-day FL display. The SR6003’s manual controls are conveniently hidden from view behind a standard trapdoor and the normally obnoxious NASCAR-style logo lineup rests not on the face of the SR6003, but along the top edge. The slightly curved edges of the SR6003 look phenomenal in a custom rack configuration, such as a Middle Atlantic rack putting the SR6003 in the looks department next to Classe, Krell and Mark Levinson.

SR6003: Innovative Features Geared Toward System Expandability Leading the company’s three new A/V receiver entries, the Marantz SR6003 includes several innovative advancements that make it ideal for use in an expanded home entertainment network. For example, with its 3-In/2-Out HDMI Repeating capability, users can connect two separate displays and switch from one to the other without changing cables. In addition, the SR6003 features a USB Audio Input that supports playback of MP3, WMA and WAV files and provides playback control via remote (Play, Stop, FF, BWD, Skip Forward, Random and Repeat Play), while showing music track information on the unit’s
newly designed Graphical User Interface (GUI), with a new iChips processor that enables 256 colors, with better visibility and fine characters.

The SR6003’s 1080p-compatible HDMI inputs let you hook up three high-definition sources for easy switching. Two HDMI outputs mean you can route high-def video signals to both an HDTV and a home theater projector. Plus, analog-to-HDMI video upconversion allows you to pass the video signals from all your components to your TV via a single-cable digital connection — even older, non-HD sources. This simplifies hookup and ensures the best picture quality possible for every source in your system.

The SR6003 lets you get the most out of these sources regardless of your home theater room by including Audyssey’s remarkable MultEQ system. After “listening” to test tones sent to all your speakers, it provides a virtually perfect acoustical environment for up to six individual seats. In addition, MultEQ detects speaker wiring errors resulting in “out of phase” performance losses, automatically configures bass management for ideal integration of subwoofers and full range speakers, and calculates proper delays and speaker levels to produce the best possible surround soundfield.

Power output is high at 100W x 7, and the receiver also offers three HDMI V1.3a inputs and two outputs — meaning you could connect both a projector and a plasma. Ease of use also appears to be a factor with a simplified fascia, AUDYSSEY auto set-up, and a colour on-screen GUI.
The receiver also features a video converter upscaling video to 1080p, and you can make the most of MP3 files with a USB input and M-DAX music enhancer.
