With so many computer 2.1 speaker systems on the market today, it’s easy to be turned off from anything starting at under $100. But at the Consumer Electronics show earlier this year, the buzz was all about Edifiers new E3350 lifestyle speaker systems. People were assuming that with such rich sounds, and well built speakers, they would be in the $250 or higher price range. Coming in at just $99.99, the new E3350 speaker system combines award winning design with practical affordability.

The Edifier e3350 is an affordably priced 2.1-channel PC speaker system with a wired remote and an interesting-looking modern design. Unfortunately, the $100 set is riddled with ergonomic and performance flaws that make it difficult to recommend. The main issue is with the subwoofer, which can’t handle deep, resonant bass at moderate-to-high volumes. Actually, the e3350 doesn’t sound bad at all. Bass distortion isn’t present on every song—mainly just in deeper bass tunes—but for a speaker system to be worth its salt, its subwoofer has got to perform, and this one misses the mark.
