Sony have officially unveiled their PlayStation Move PS3 add-on at this year’s GDC. The Move controller resembles a microphone and the press shots show its orb-like top glows one of four different colours; we assume this is to identify different players in and out of gaming! Sony is touting the device for its incredible level of precision and almost non-existent (1 frame) lag, which was evident at the press conference during live demos. It makes use of the PlayStation Eye to track user’s movements

Thanks to Fujifilm’s own” Image Intelligence Technology” and “3D Image Processing”, within just minutes you can print your photos with true-to-life quality using a PC to process the MPO file using Fujifilm’s aforementioned new image processing software.

Besides, It promises not only faster but also less cost per print, according to Fujifilm. Measuring 17.7-×16.9-×35.4-inches, it is considered to be appealing especially for event photographers.

According to Fujifilm UK, it will be unveiled in the UK in April 2010.

Fujifilm UK Ltd. is pleased to announce the launch of a radical new 3D printer; the “3D Print System”. This exciting new development will bring the enjoyment of 3D images to a wider audience than ever before, and will introduce many significant improvements to consumers over Fujifilm’s current 3D print service. The compact 3D Print System will hit the UK in early summer 2010, bringing a novel offering to on-site print services, ideal for event photographers, tourist attractions and theme parks.

Fujifilm has positioned itself as market leader in 3D photography with the launch of the FinePix 3D REAL W1 digital camera and FinePix REAL V1 digital photo frame in Autumn 2009. These allow users, for the first time ever, to capture and view 3D images without the need to wear special 3D glasses. To print their 3D photos, currently users have to order prints online directly from Fujifilm. These are printed on a special Frontier system in Japan and can take several weeks to return to the consumer.

With the launch of the new 3D Print System, 3D prints can be created on the spot, using a PC to process the MPO file via Fujifilm’s newly developed image processing software. Using Fujifilm’s proprietary “Image Intelligence™” technology and “3D Image Processing”, high quality, life-like prints are produced in a matter of minutes. Excellent ‘photographic’ results are produced using dye-sublimation technology to print directly on to the base of a lenticular sheet.

As prints can be produced locally with the minimum of fuss, consumers can receive their prints back in days, not weeks, and the cost per print will be reduced significantly.

Thanks to the small footprint of the system – 0.9m (H) x 0.5m (W) x 0.5m (D) – the offering of 3D prints can be established easily without the need for much space, perfect for event photographers who need a portable system, and for shops where space is at a premium.

Another significant improvement on the existing service is a wider variety of products. Prints will be available in four sizes, from 4?6 inches to larger 6?9 prints. And, rather than the standard 3D prints currently available, the new print system can also combine a 3D image with a 3D template, and a 2D image with a 3D template. These new 3D print varieties are well suited to on-site print services, at venues such as theme parks, tourist attractions and cruise ships.

As an industry leader in the 3D photography market, these new developments in 3D printing ensure that Fujifilm continues to develop and expand its 3D offering enabling more and more people to discover the wonders of 3D image capture

Pricing for the 3D Print System will be announced in April 2010.

Key Features of 3D Print System

* On-site production of high-quality 3D prints
* Fujifilm’s proprietary digital image processing technology, “Image Intelligence” and “3D Image Processing”
* Direct thermal sublimation printing method which achieves high definition 3D prints on special lenticular sheets
* Small foot print, at 450(W) × 430(D) × 900(H) mm, the 3D printer is suited to most locations
* Four print sizes available: 4 × 6 inch (10.2 × 15.2 cm), 6 × 4 inch (15.2 × 10.2 cm), 5 × 7 inch (12.7 × 17.8 cm), and 6 × 9 inch (15.2 × 22.9 cm)
* Variety of 3D prints available including 3D composite prints using 3D templates for greater creativity

Kazuo Hirai suggests Sony is hanging on for software releases
PS3 motion controller launch pushed back to autumn

It seems a spring 2010 launch was too good to be true for Sony’s new motion controller as the Japanese gaming giant has issued a release stating it’s working towards a launch in “fall” 2010.

The autumn launch will at least be a global one – Sony says that timescale will see the device launched in Japan, Asian regions and countries, North America and Europe/PAL territories.

As well as the controller there will obviously be new games that work with the motion-sensing peripheral that needs the Sony PlayStation Eye camera in order to function.

“We will continue to work to have a comprehensive portfolio of attractive and innovative games for the Motion Controller, not only from SCE Worldwide Studios but also from the third party developers and publishers, whom we have been working closely with”, Kazuo Hirai, president and CEO, of SCE says in the release.

“We look forward to soon unveiling the exciting software line-up that further expand and define the PS3 platform as the ultimate entertainment system for the home”. ?

Sony says “the new controller, combined together with the PlayStation Eye camera, can detect the natural and intuitive movement of the hand and reflect the precise movement within the game, delivering a whole new entertainment experience on PS3″.

It’s interesting to note that in the release Sony makes much of the fact that the term “Motion Controller” is what it calls “a tentative name”. News in this week from insider sources suggests the controller will be called the “Arc”.

The autumn launch will mean that Sony’s motion controlling gaming solution will only just hit the shelves slightly ahead of Microsoft’s rival “Project Natal” system which is due Q4 2010, in time for Christmas.

This, ladies and gentlemen, is the Mototola Cliq – the first ever Android device from Moto. It’ll be launching on T-Mobile USA in the Autumn in titanium and “winter white” but you’ll have to hang on for prices. Click over to www.t-mobile.com/cliq to get your name down.

The phone comes with something called “MOTOBLUR” which you can see in action here. It’s a way to sync MySpace, Twitter, Facebook and “your entire social life, in a single screen”. The interface will pull contacts, profile pics and status updates from various social media sites. It’s all sorted and and filed away neatly with groupings and Google Maps integration to see where your friends are. Your Twitter, Facebook and MySpace messages arrive together with texts and emails in one simple place. There’s also the ability to capture and share photos to sites such as Facebook, Picasa, Photobucket and MySpace (hey, where’s FlickR?).

The Moto Cliq itself has, as you can see, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. The screen is a 3.1″ HVGA screen and there’s a 5 megapixel auto-focus cam around the back. There’s 3G and WiFi connectivity with a 3.5mm audio port and 2 microSD card included.

The initial vibe is that the MOTOBLUR interface works very well and is very fluid. However, the interesting thing for us in Europe is that this handset is ALSO coming to here under the name “Mototola Dext”. It will be available on Orange here in the UK and France, and you’ll also be able to buy it on Telefonica in Spain and America Movil in Latin America.

Read on for the full press release.

Looking to simultaneously trick your employees into thinking you love them and keep better tabs on their whereabouts? If so, you should definitely look into handing out Winwatch-approved timepieces as “performance incentives,” which should be sporting an oh-so-telling RFID tag in the near future. The Switzerland-based outfit has just announced plans to patent an RFID-enabled crystal gasket that would be placed in luxury wristwatches, and while they’re pushing it as a way for companies to weed out counterfeit products, we’re sure the privacy advocates in attendance can think of far darker applications. Samples are slated to start shipping out later this autumn, which means your window to snag a non-voyeuristic watch is hastily closing.
