This is the life of an Apple Genius: Computers caked in toxic waste, screaming customers, dead cats, raging homophobes, and oh yeah—getting punched in the face.

We’re protecting the identity of the Geniuses who relayed these tales of total cockbaggage with pseudonyms, since some of them might still work for Apple. If you want to see all of the stories on one page, just click here.

Now tell us, which Genius deserves some free pizza to ease their suffering? (Sorry we can’t send you guys a medal, sheesh.)

Yet more to-ing and fro-ing about the Windows Mobile 7 launch, this time with Digitimes pointing at a Mobile World Congress announcement of an end-of-2010 launch. It’s nothing we haven’t heard before, but they’re piling up thick ‘n fast now.

HTC hasn’t been too sure on whether the HD2 will be upgraded with WinMo 7, but there’s talk of a new HTC phone in town—the Obsession, or Diamond3, which Boy Genius Report believes will be offered on AT&T and T-Mobile. LG is also readying a phone for the big Microsoft push, called the Apollo—which WMPowerUser and Let’s Go Digital are claiming will have an enormous amount of spec.

It’s all pretty dubious, to say the least—a WinMo phone with a 10-megapixel camera and 720p video recording? Let’s Go Digital has published a picture of the supposed device, which looks just like the Viewty Smart running Windows Mobile 6.5. I honestly don’t know what to think about Windows 7 anymore, just make it all go away while I lie down and whimper for a while. [Digitimes]

Fox News. When they’re not talking of celebrity chests, they’re opining about Apple rumors! They got next week’s event date wrong, but now they’re quoting sources saying Apple “is in talks” with both Verizon and AT&T for the tablet.

Supposedly there’ll be two versions of the tablet, one offered on CDMA with Verizon’s and the other on AT&T’s GSM network. Interestingly, they suggest that Apple is still having those discussions, with nothing tied down firmly yet—which could certainly add weight to the speculation that the tablet won’t actually hit shelves until June. But hey, it’s Fox News. How ’bout those celebrity chests, eh? [Fox News]

Clear releasing two new WiMAX modems with integrated VOIP functionality We were recently lucky enough to experience Clear’s WiMAX service in Las Vegas for a week and, after having 4G available whenever we wanted it, we were a little sad to go back to our 3G domiciles. For those who live every day in a WiMAX wonderland, Clear has a pair of new modems for you, both featuring built-in ATA compatibility meaning those signing up for Clear Voice VOIP can jack their phones straight in. The devices are the Gemtek Series G, available in Vegas, and the Motorola CPEi 725 Series M, available in Portland. Both are $80 up-front or $5 per month on lease, and neither are available where we are, so if you’ll kindly excuse us we’re going to go pout in the corner for a bit.

CES 2010: Hardcore console gamers get help
Razer Onza Xbox 360 controller takes console gaming professional

Razer, the company that specialises in professional gaming mice and keyboards, has moved into the world of console gaming with the news that they will be launching an?Xbox 360?controller for gamers looking for a bit more control.

The new controller, expected to be available later this year around the globe will be called the Razer Onza and features a number of elements suited to those who take these things seriously.

“Just as we did for PC gamers, we are really looking forward to revolutionizing the world of console gaming by creating a controller and gaming headset that gives console gamers the same level of quality, precision and accuracy that they know and expect in our PC products”, said Robert “Razerguy” Krakoff, president, Razer USA.

That revolution comes in the guise of Razer Hyperesponse buttons, analogue sticks with customisable tension to suit both racing gamers and first person shooters, and two programmable multi-function buttons on the shoulders that can be mapped to act as one of the action buttons, the analogue stick buttons or an auto-fire button by using a sliding selector switch on the bottom of the controller.

Razer Onza Professional Gaming Controller for Xbox 360 will cost $49.99 in the US and 44.99 euros in Europe.

Need a room quickly and cheap? Sorted
WEBSITE OF THE DAY - Crashpadder . WebsiteoftheDay, Websites, Software, Online<br />

Oh, how I wish I’d known about this site before Christmas.

There I was, the last Friday before the festivities, having a few drinks. As one does. Rumours of a light dusting of snow start to circulate and we all think “how lovely – a white Christmas”.

What I certainly didn’t think was: “maybe I should get going now, because all the trains will stop and I’ll be left stranded at Charing Cross with just a paper hat and a soon-to-run-out-of-juice iPhone for company.

I think I got the last hotel room in London that night and it cost me a small fortune. The wife was pleased too.

This would have been the answer to my predicament. People with spare rooms list them here and if you need somewhere to rest your weary head, you can find somewhere at a fraction of the cost of a hotel room.

Hindsight’s a wonderful thing ain’t it?
