Already introduced during the last PMA in the US, the Japanese manufacturer Olympus decided to give to the Japanese press the pleasure to discover in flesh their latest model during a nicely well organized event here in Tokyo.
Nothing we already covered of course but if was still interesting to play with the new cameras as well as discovering their accessories. But, the most “impressive” element of this press event was the 3 µTOUGH cameras frozen into a big block of ice… Funny and impressive

HTC are doing well. They’re doing very well. They arrived in Barcelona, announced three new devices, then took home a huge award. Apple now seem to be flexing their muscles, with an intention to sue HTC for HTC, infringing a massive 20 patents. These apparently relate to the “iPhone’s user interface, underlying architecture, and hardware.”
According to the press release Steve Jobs (CEO of Apple) has thrown his toys out of the pram in quite spectacular fashion…
“We can sit by and watch competitors steal our patented inventions, or we can do something about it. We’ve decided to do something about it. We think competition is healthy, but competitors should create their own original technology, not steal ours.”
We’ll await the HTC response on this. It seems to be a shot across the bows of the mighty Google warship and could mark the beginning of a long drawn-out patent war.
Update – It looks like this is targeted purely at HTC Android devices. Engadget has more.

Woaha. First rule of watermarking. Never put your logo right on top of the most important piece of information. TmoNews have got information on the arrival of the HD2 into the USA. It’s showing up as $199 after various rebates and probably a fairly chunky contract.
The Motorola Cliq XT (the US name for the Quench we saw here and here last month) is showing as $129 with no doubt similar restrictions.
It’s great to see the HD2 finally appearing in the US. If you’re eager to find out more about it, check out our review.

Whilst Orange is picking up the HTC Desire, Vodafone look to be picking up the picking up the Nexus One. Both phones are very similar, although HTC were keen to stress that they’re both made on completely seperate production lines during Mobile World Congress. The Telegraph have news that Voda will be retailing the Google device here in the UK very soon, with the network becoming the first UK partner in April.
Both companies are currently just stating “the Spring” as a launch date. The only real news here is that rumoured April time-frame, as Vodafone was initially mentioned as a European carrier back on January 5th.
