Seagate’s no stranger to the world of SATA 6Gbps, and if you really, really needed another option, here you go. The aforesaid company has just shipped what it calls the industry’s first 2TB 6Gbps SAS enterprise drive, complete with a 7200RPM spindle speed and some sort of “best-in-class” reliability. And given the kind of thing that Seagate’s own CEO recommends you use its drives for, you can be certain that you’ll need that. Mum’s the word on pricing, but 500GB and 1TB versions are also out there for those with less to archive.

Motorola has a new add-on for their WiMAX USBw 200 adapter. It’s effectively a docking station for the mobile adapter with it’s own power supply and larger antenna. The larger docking station sits upright and accepts the USB WiMAX adapter into its center. The elevation and angle should provide a modest improvement in signal by itself. Using the docking station’s dual internal antennas the sensitivity of the unit is roughly doubled from 3db up to 6db.
The USBw 200 adapter doesn’t need any other drivers to support the docking station. The USB dongle has all the drivers you need within its on-board flash memory. Unfortunately, the USBw 200 only has drivers for Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7. WiMAX service is only available in a few select cities but continues to roll out. Service may not be available for you yet, but the USBw 200 has been out for a few months and the new docking station should arrive later this year. We expect more pricing details as the shipping date (Q2 2010) gets closer.

Last official word we had on the launch of Sony’s PS3 Motion Controller was Spring 2010. However, we just received a press release from Sony Japan with a revised availability of “Fall 2010.” The calendar push affects Japan, Asia, North America, and Europe. In the statement, Kaz Hirai avoids using the “d” word saying only:
“We have decided to release the Motion Controller in fall 2010 when we will be able to offer an exciting and varied line-up of software titles that will deliver the new entertainment experience to PS3 users.”
Still no mention of Arc though Sony does concede that motion controller is just a tentative name. Full press release after the break.

LG’s
X300 laptop may have largely avoided comparisons to a certain other thin-and-light when it was announced at CES earlier this month, but it looks like LG is intent on driving that point home regardless. As you can see for yourself in the promo video after the break, not only has LG carried on the
oft-
imitated manila envelope motif, but it tops things off with a just slightly off “la la la” refrain for good measure. All of which might have earned LG a few points for boldness if this were a parody ad released a few years ago but, sadly, this is 2010, and this ad is all too real.
[Thanks, Muller]

It might’ve been hard to watch pictures of the latest natural disaster striking the island of Haiti recently, but lending a hand in the relief effort shouldn’t be. If you’ve got an older cellphone — functioning or otherwise — batteries, chargers, or other accessories, ReCellular wants to hear from you. The cellphone recycling company has launched a Phones for Haiti program, whereby you can donate your unwanted handsets and rest assured that 100 percent of the revenue raised from them will go to helping Haiti survivors rebuild. Partnering with the American Red Cross, ReCellular will even pay for the shipping of your castoff electronics, so really, how much easier do you want it?
ReCellular will recycle your phone and donate all proceeds to Haiti disaster relief originally appeared on Engadget on Tue, 19 Jan 2010 05:43:00 EST. Please see our terms for use of feeds.

With Christmas Day fast approaching and work, for a great deal of us, unrelenting up until Christmas Eve, it’s very possible that some of your festive shopping has fallen by the way side – all those plans you made last Christmas to be more organised disappearing like a first-rate Christmas lunch.
If this applies to you, Ebuyer.com is promising next-day delivery on 23 December right up until 11pm. Yes, it may well mean that you have to pull off a Father Christmas impression on the night of the 24th, but all going well the gift should be under the tree for Christmas Day.
For the privilege of leaving it so late Ebuyer will charge ?9.99 for the next day service – in the event it doesn’t arrive on time the company will refund the shipping as well as give you free delivery on your next order.
The choice of products is pretty good on the site with what appears to be some decent discounts coming in the form of Ebuyer’s “Sale Of The Decade” – be sure to let us know in the comments if it really is.
