JVC USA announced yesterday that D’Ambra Technologies relies on JVC’s GD-463D10U 46-inch 3D LCD HD monitor to show surgical procedures in real-time 3D at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. It will be used as part of the system D’Ambra technologies builds to “model a real surgical field in real time 3D – and then allow virtual surgery to be performed on that virtual surgical field allowing surgeons to be able to perform a ‘practice operation’ before they cut anything on a patient.” according to David Kaplan, M.D. of D’Ambra Technologies.

It works on a thought-to-computer basis, in other words, by only wearing EEG cap) it becomes possible for the users not only to write texts but also trigger an alarm, let the computer speak the written text, print out or copy the text into an e-mail or to send commands to external devices via brain control. According to Intendix it requires approximately 10 minutes to get used to the system the first time and the majority performance has been recorded as 5 to 10 characters per minute
